Anto’s journey from being a chaining victim to becoming a global mental health activist is a powerful story of resilience and advocacy. With lived experience as a foundation, Anto has transformed personal challenges into a life dedicated to supporting others facing mental health issues. Since 2010, Anto has collaborated with numerous non-profit mental health organizations, championing the cause of individuals with lived experience. Through guest lectures, a documentary film release, artistic creations, and ongoing advocacy, Anto has become a respected voice in global mental health activism.
Anto’s academic background includes a Master of Health Promotion from Deakin University, Australia, strengthening their advocacy work’s theoretical foundation. Professionally, Anto’s experience spans various leadership and research roles. Since 2024, Anto has served in board management for the Global Mental Health Peer Network, engaging in international mental health initiatives. Since 2010, Anto has also worked as a campaigner for mental health with organizations such as Indonesian Community Care for Schizophrenia and Bipolar Care Indonesia and Global Mental Health Peer Network. Currently, Anto is a PhD student pursuing a Doctorate Degree at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Anto’s work extends to public speaking at both national and international levels, addressing mental health topics at seminars, public lectures, and events. Anto has become an advisory group for lived experience and also joined various international mental health research pros and. Anto’s achievements in the mental health field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Australia Awards Scholarship in 2019 and the Australia Awards Fellowship in 2016. In the same year, Anto was honored with the Jim Birley Scholarship for Human Rights. Earlier, in 2014, Anto won First Prize in the Writing and Essay Competition on Art and Mental Health organized by the World Association for Cultural Psychiatry. These honors are a testament to Anto’s dedication to promoting mental health and human rights globally.
